t archery elk, third place, t muzzle loader elk, third and fourth place he also received outfitter of the year award from the colorado outfitter's association this area is so good for big bulls it only has a few deer, but they are big if you see them. the altitude ranges from 7,500 to even 12,300 on some of the early hunts.
this hunt has a very high success rate on bull that is 4 point or better.
this is one of the premier elk hunting areas in colorado and has been noted for its considerable percentage of large bulls and an abundance and variety of wildlife. the area where we conduct our deer and elk hunting is designated by gmu#18 on your colorado big game map. it is a road less part of the medicine bow-routt national forest near rocky mountain national park. travel is on foot or horseback. the majority of our hunts are off of horses. there are no motorized vehicles allowed in the troublesome basin, a primitive area. our camps are a wilderness experience. the troublesome basin consists of 80,000 acres, timbered land, open parks and meadows, river drainage and peaks above timberline. no atv’s are allow, no motorized vehicles so it is foot or horseback which is one reason why the hunting success is so high for bulls with 4 to 6 points on a side.
